I believe I got these about eight years ago in change from a local Chinese restaurant. They are all crisp uncirculated with no folds... The Sesame Chicken tasted especially good that night...
Nice! I've collected coins for over 25 years now, but I gotta admit that I don't know for sure what a star note means. I always thought that if there was an error made on one, it was replaced by a star note, but don't know for sure. I've got about 50 old notes that were passed down from my grandmother, but I've just always been more interested in coins. I went to the bank the other day and got some sleeves of brand new $1 bills. I put a backing on them and a cover on top, then I give the to my grandkids as Christmas coupon books. I noticed on the sleeve around the bills, it said "If the numbers on Notes in this package do not run in sequence, the substituted Notes are indicated by a Star" "Inquiries should include the serial numbers of the Notes". I was busy melting the strip to make the little books and forgot to look to see if there were any Star Notes in it. Chuck
"If the numbers on Notes in this package do not run in sequence, the substituted Notes are indicated by a Star" "Inquiries should include the serial numbers of the Notes". If one was to make an inquiry, to whom would one make it, and what would one hear from such an inquiry?
Chuck - You have grandchildren and these came from your grandmother? Wow. If you could find the time to scan or photograph some of these banknotes many people, including myself, would love to see what you have. Thanks!
Hiho, Granny really loved coins, and had quite a collection. I've got a few pics of some of the notes, but I don't have nice pictures like yours. One of these days I need to get everything out and take pics. About the only thing I take pics of nowdays are what I get from the mint. Chuck
Stars are printed first, so they can be inserted when defective ones are found during all of the processes of the printing. When they have left the printing plant, they have a wrapper on them that is oblique bands instead of straight bands on regular ones. Less than .05% of the total production are star notes. I hope this helps. -O)
Excellent Saercher! I did not know that. I've spent all my time learing about coins over the years, and don't know squat about notes. Hiho, that would make those much more rare than I thought. Super nice!!! Chuck
