My newest from Nürnberg - or as Anglicized, Nuremberg. A 1765 thaler. Francis I was the Holy Roman Emperor. His wife was Maria Theresa, of the Habsburgs.

Sorry for the quality but these were very used coins that found their way into my coin box either from coming back from overseas or picked up as spare change in NYC.

Another thaler! This one from Prussia - 1871, minted in Berlin. I believe one of the last if not the last thaler subsequent to the change to the mark.

With Belgium I lay down a 1944 two-francs piece. German occupation, I think. Or maybe Allied occupation by this time. I will look; hold please. Allied occupation!

 

1938 Belgium 5 francs, pre WWII. A rather handsome coin, methinks.

A Belgian 'war break' piece! You know, after the war took a break in 1918 but before the break was over in about 1939 . . . . a 1923 franc.

 

1917 Belgium 25 centimes. WWI time, bad period of history in that area.
