If the Mint was smart, they'd find a way to sell that Girl Scout cookie through advertising on the cookie box cover. They would literally sell a ton of these.

Top left, the one with the past advising the future. Wasn't there another mock-up, with a more traditional emblem? I seem to recall something with a proof like look to it.

The thing the Mint should have done was to let the BSA pick out the final design.

You know you really bring up an interesting point , I know a lot of us here on the forum were Boy Scouts including myself , it seems instead of getting feedback from some of us older folks they were so hung up on todays political *&$^%#@@:goof: they came up with a questionable image of 21st century propaganda . I think they forgot who will be buying & investing in these coins , big misake I think :eek:hya:

This was the worst of all the boy scout proposed designs. I'm disappointed that they went PC rather than making the best coin. I'll buy one though

Definitly agree with you, we shouldn't have long to wait for its release, it might be released about the time of the Boy Scout Centennial on 2-8-2010 :smile

You know I've looked all over the internet to find out how many choices they had to choose from with not much luck, I'am sure they could have done better :eating:

I think it's OK... but just OK. I wouldn't say it's a bad design, but it's not one I'm especially excited about. I tihink the helping hand one would have been a better design than the saluting one. Seems to shout "Boy Scouts" more than the rather generic design they actually picked.

To be honest I kind of like the design of the Disabled Veterans silver dollar better, and will probably get that one if I only get one.

Not to get too off topic but I think a great idea for 2011 would be a commemorative for Ronald Reagan... will be the 100th anniversary of his brith that year.

You guys think this coin will be a limit of 1 per household? or can I just buy up 100 of these? I wish the mint would have made a better design pick but it's a BSA coin and I gotta say as an Eagle scout and Assistant Scout Master I can't wait to order away! :D I seriously am thinking about ordering all I can afford so I can hand out to past and future Eagle Scouts

also what you guys think the mint price will be? you think they will be at the price of the 2009 lincoln? higher? lower?

Even though it's not the greatest design I think this coin will sell nicely.

I would say that they will not have a 1 per household limit. They may put a limit on them at first but I would think it would be more like 5 coins, and I wouldn't expect that limit to last either.

I'll skip buying this one. I only buy commemorative dealing with significant events, famous person, or buildings and works of art. BSA, isn't any of them.

Eventually, people die, or have already. Significant events only happen once. And buildings don't last forever. BSA isn't going anywhere....at least I hope.

I heard 350,000 Proof and Unc.
Is there any truth to that ????

I would say no limit on these as....
Pack #64 out of New York wants 26
Pack #49 out of San Antonio wants 1
Pack #119 out of LA wants 33.....etc,etc.

The only particular of this coin that pleases me is the organization's logo. I personally feel that either one of the two obverse designs that were up for consideration would have been better than the chosen one.

You are correct the mintage will be limited to 350,000 coins minted & I don't think they will have any problems selling them out:thumb:
