Why did this Flowing Hair Dollar sell for so much?

    That's right in line with what they sell for. Another 6 actually sold last year for more

    @baseball21 where are you getting your numbers? I was checking Heritage for G and VG and see prices a lot closer to $2k...

    Not that I don't believe you, I just want to know if I'm looking in the wrong places.

    I'd say because it looks so natural, yet is not as dark as so many other natural examples of the same issue. That probably attracts a pretty strong audience.

    A few years ago they were closer to 2k but they've gone up since then

    As has been widely reported, the coin market seems to be heating up a bit. While these have been selling for $2k over the past few years, the end of 2020 into 2021 has seen a ramp up in prices. I don't find the price of the OP coin to be extraordinarily high.
