Yesterday I happily received an awesome provincial bronze coin from the reign of Gallienus: Its from the city of Aphrodisias in Caria - Modern day Turkey. The reverse features the temple of Aphrodite from that place which basically must have been a love cult?: I wonder if the temple front featured on this coin is this one which is still standing today: If this is the same temple and it really looks alot like it this would be my first ancient coin featuring a building still standing today Anyways feel free to post your coins from Aphrosidias or related to the Aphrodite cult <3

That's a neat coin with its temple reverse. I also always enjoy these provincials of Gallienus where the portraits look almost nothing like Gallienus. I only have one coin from this city. It doesn't have a temple on the reverse, but apparently the reverse with three trees in an enclosure relates to the birth of Aphrodite's lover Adonis. VALERIAN II AE22. 3.9g, 22.1mm.
