I'm glad to see the detail of the obverse surface. I recently posted a pic of my 89 morgan and among other things that some members called into question was the surface. It was just like your coin. I guess some Morgans have that different looking surface. Does this make sense?
Well I just sent it off to PCGS this morning... I spent last night looking online at many 66's (for this date and comparable strikes) and it is far superior to at least 3/4 of those I saw. I am pretty confident it will come back at the same grade, but who knows! *crosses fingers* Because I am sort of anxious I chose Express and that's a 5 day turnaround. I'll revive this thread when it shows up online.
*Update* ANACS was spot on this time, PCGS came back with a 66 as well!! It just went up under my account submissions online. Order #20362399 / Submission #9113034 Line #Item #Cert #PCGS No.CoinDateDenominationVarietyCountryGrade 1115176614 7266 1900-O$1 US MS66
I sent it in as a crossover and paid the extra for express because I am wiked impatient sometimes lol
Congratulations on the crossover. There is always an element of chance, not that the coin would cross, but get bumped down a grade. Under what PCGS registry do you post?
I'm glad it crossed over for you. This is proof that it pays to know how to grade. If you didn't think it would make -66 but just went by the old slab, you could have wasted a lot of money. Well done.
This is true, if I had even the slightest doubt it wouldn't have crossed over I wouldn't have spent the money. Of course, I had to come here and check with you guys to make sure I wasn't missing something.
