if you buy am eagle proof silver dollars from the mint each year. every year is a winner. no matter those proof coins are overpriced. even better if you got the 1995w proof silver eagle. that one worth $3,000.00 or more. depend on condition. proof 70 worth more than
    $10,000.00 a piece.

so many outsiders, new collectors, and investors push the prices of american eagle silver proof dollars and other gold proof coins to a very high premium. the current bid for common ASE proof is $52.00. the mint sell it for $31.00. the selling price i think is around $65.00 to $70.00 or more. why?. because proof coin is very attractive to new comers. proof coin is like a perfect coin. and it is truly a very beautiful piece. but for us. the old timer collectors. we like low mintage and most likely. we gonna buy the uncirculated one.

Buying the 2009 unc.silver eagle 5 for $100 sounds like a good deal! I am watching on Ebay too. I bought a 1998 silver proof eagle for $50 plus 5.50 shipping over the weekend. Can you pass on any names for the 2009 unc. eagle? wagair2

I do not think either are overpriced from the mint but the secondary market is crazy. Almost overnight proofs went from an average of $40.00 to $65.00 ( for the common dates) all of which is speculation based on not making any for 2009. I hope no one is filling in any holes at the current prices, especially if the mint resumes production in 2010. Because the prices will drop back out to where they were a few months ago. At these current prices, I'm selling my dupes and investing in some high grade key coins.
