I joined CT. It’s been great and I’ve enjoyed learning as much as I have helping others. So today I’m posting this coin to celebrate. It is my first and only Half Dime.

It’s a 1834 Capped Bust Half Dime. Only 1,480,000 were originally minted so a lot less survive today.

This coin was only produced for 9 years. The last 4 years a number of varieties were produced. Out of all the Capped Bust Half Dimes produced the 1834 is considered a high number. Only 2 years saw higher production mintages. This coin is in an AU condition and currently has a home in my Dansco 7070 album.

    Nice looking coin.

If you're interested, your coin is Die Marriage 4 (LM-4), one of only five die marriages in 1834, tied with 1837 for the least of any year the Capped Busts were minted. The LM-4 is listed as a Rarity 1 (common) with an estimated survival rate of over 1000.

The obverse is number 3 and is an earlier die state because the bisecting die crack has not appeared.

The reverse is the first use of Reverse Z. The right diagonal of M shows heavy lapping of the die. Also note that N has filled between the diagonal and right upright.

You’re fine and at times you make me laugh. Besides, I know how to use the ignore button. Lol and thanks.

I have always liked these "middle date" half dimes. They are harder to find nice than some people think.

    What's an "ignore button"?

Ps. I know what the IB is so don't think I have gone around the bend, but wait...maybe I have?

    Picky, picky, picky!!!
Here is a simple case of an intended pun falling short of the mark and you, failing to realize it, decide to point out a discrepancy. My actual active member time frame is 2 yrs, 9 mos. and 6 days to be precise and I'm surprised you did not point this out.

I don't think he said "...putting up with him..." He said "...putting up with the likes of..." So, he is very much correct.
