I'm not sure what's blur and what's doubled. get rid of the textured background, and it should focus on the coin instead of behind it.
Of course it looks doubled when out of focus, but likely not. It's a Zincoln cent that all types of issues show up.
Zincoln's, so many anomalies, so few errors. Better pic's would certainly help but don't hold your breath, 99%+ are issues and nothing more. Thanks for the post, good luck.
A number of members agree with that. I can’t tell for sure but it is a zinc cent. So combine what we know about zinc cents and blurry photos and you know what the answer is.
Out of focus blurry photos, BUT ... doubling can be seen in United States of America, especially in the U, N, E, D, in United, the first S in States, and particularly in the M in America.
Just remember that there are many types of doubling and all of them are basically worthless except one kind.
To me the " doubling " looks more like I would call stacked. In other words one letter over another, offset to a small degree. Or shelf like. Not next to eachother on the same plane. From my understanding that would indicate a deteriorating die doubling. On unum it is also above and below each letter. Which would be another indication of DDD.
Some of the members on here take fantastic pics with a phone. They rig it up on a can or such. I don't have any pics of their set up in my archives. Maybe some one does and will post it again. Real simple the way they do it.
That's just from how it was struck. There was a little movement and they sometimes smear out a little for it. These aren't handcrafted, you know. I say that because a lot of people got no idea. Look on YouTube for a video on how cents are minted, you'll wonder how any of them could come out as intended. It's a very rapid and violent process, not the cookie-cutter precision some people imagine. But anyways, there's the verdict. We call it "strike doubling."
It's a little hard to make out, but it looks like you've got split plating (which can mimic doubling) above the 'States' and at the bottom of the memorial http://www.error-ref.com/split-plating-includes-split-plate-doubling/ The E Pluribus Unum confuses me. Can't tell much about it myself at this resolution. These pics are much better than your first ones though - you're definitely improving.
