debbie, Is there a mint mark on the reverse? Thats important information in determining a value. From what I do see of the obverse, the coin has been cleaned and has many distracting and disturbing surface marks. TRY to get a reverse picture to post.

Well, I'd still like to see the reverse. But my best estimate purely on Gold Value is about $135.00

I'd bid $190 but I'd have to see the reverse. I love pre civil war gold and grab it whenever possible.

not for sale at this time

I'm trying to find out what its worth, not wanting to sell it. I can get $450.00 for it here in New York. What's wrong with it? Still trying to get the reverse for you.

Deb, As I stated I believe the coin to have been cleaned and has some major distractions on the obverse. The figure I gave you was strictly gold content value by todays gold prices and not any value attributed for Numismatic Collector purposes, which I can't offer until I see the entire coin.

I did. All I can say is the coin has been "cleaned" and that certainly diminishes any numismatic value significantly. Bring the coin to one of your local coin dealers and ask for a grade opinion or what for some others here to offer their view.

    Happy Holidays Deb.

AU details, cleaned. Value on ebay $200, maybe slightly over. It's a somewhat better date coin, but you're not going to get $450 for it (no rudeness intended at all) because the problems knock off most of the numismatic value.

If someone is paying you $450 for it, sell it to them right away!

If someone is paying you $450 for it, buy them a book, sit them down and teach them about cleaning and what it does to collectible coins. Then sell it to them for 190$

don't get your panties in a wad

I really appreciate all the help from you guys, but cut me some slack, i'm new at this and only wanted some advice. And I will take your advice. But really i'm going to hold on to the coin for sentimental reasons, I found it amonst the belongings of my husband that I lost last year very suddenly.

    Thanks again for the help

Hope everyone has a great Holiday and a Wonderful and Healthy New Year!!!!!!

I certainly am not upset, nor distraught. Just wanted to voice my opinion on the matter. And don't want a new collector paying a bunch of money for a coin that isn't worth a bunch of money.
