Hi all! I recently bought this coin in a small lot on eBay, and I'm having a bit of trouble getting a full ID. It appears to be a fouree antoninianus, possibly of Gordian III with the reverse "PRINCIPI IVVENTVTIS" or maybe, as I can't see the first P, just "RINCIPI IVVENTVTIS" I can't find any other coins of Gordian III, fouree or otherwise, with this reverse. Can anyone confirm whether my identification is correct, or if it is something else? Thanks!
The only Gordian III with PRINCIPI IVVENTIS I can find is http://numismatics.org/ocre/id/ric.4.gor_iii.241 (not sure why on OCRE a Julia Soaemias coin is listed as primary example for this type). But on your coin the reverse design is different, something like http://numismatics.org/ocre/id/ric.4.vo.183 for Volusian. So a mule fourree most likely. I also have a Gordian III fourree.
