Anyone have any coins of Lucilla? (Daughter of M. Aurelius)

Thanks :). The coin has wear but it's very uniform. The flan splits aren't too detracting. It's one of those coins that doesn't grade super high but that has tons of eye appeal, more so than some with higher grade. A good example of how grade isn't everything.

The pictures are taken in the usual manner and in post processing I add the spotlight, shadows, and reflections. My photo set-up is pictured and described here.

I’d love to see any AV coins you got!

Although I think they should use AU for gold (afterall the Latin word for gold is “aurum”).

Feel free to PM me a couple pics ^_^.

It’s a shame aureii are so darned expensive. I’d love to have a denarius & aureus for each of the five good emperors.

But fortunately it seems like it’s the bad emperors whose aureii cost the most.

I saw a Caligula aureus in XF condition sell for $25,000. o_O

    Stunning coins all!

I have several in my collection...

I believe her first appearance was on the dynastic cornucopia sestertius of Antoninus Pius, here as a toddler (right) opposite her infant brother Aelius (died in infancy)
Pius sestertius temporvm felicitas lucilla and aelius.jpg

She was betrothed to Lucius Verus at age 11 and married him at 15 - I believe it is during this period of betrothal that we have the coins with the legend ending AVG F - daughter of the Emperor
    Lucilla denarius concordia.jpg

After her marriage, she switches to LVCILLA AVGVSTA
    Lucilla augusta concordia.jpg

And for good measure, a well-loved sestertius that came in a lot and I couldn't part with for the $10 I knew it would fetch on ebay

My earliest coin showing Lucilla is probably this Dupondius of her grandfather Antoninus Pius, issued in 159-160 AD, with Pietas on the reverse representing Faustina II. That's Lucilla standing on the bottom right, the smaller of the two standing children.

sharpened Antoninus Pius Pietas RIC 1035 image from Naville 28, Lot 611.jpg

Next would be this denarius of Faustina II issued in Dec. 160 AD, with Faustina as Fecunditas on the reverse. Again, Lucilla is the smaller of the two standing children, probably the one on the left.

COMBINED Faustina II - FECVND AVGVSTAE.jpg

Yeah, If I win our lottery tonite ($70 M);)
First thing I 'd get is a fully restored 67 427/400HP) Corvette convertible/ with factory side pipes/ black with a red stinger hood scoop. Then, throw 35 M into MS Aurei/ Denari:) Esp. Postumus/ Laelinus/ Gallic Empire types.
But, I am cursed with bad luck.....never win anything:(:(:(

John, it seems to me like you're a life long winner. You live a life that you enjoy, married one of your clients, and buy some of the most fantastic coins presented here on CT. I think I call that a winner!

I read somewhere that the most expensive aureus is the aureus of Marcus Junius Brutus celebrating the assassination of Caesar with “Ides of March” written on the reverse.

The Saturninus FDC Aureus (NFA) auction is unique and would probably go for more today. NFA had some of the most outstanding aurei in pristine quality/ back in the 1980s. They also had my favorite/ a FDC Alexander of Carthage aureus.......
The affordable Emperors in MS are /
    Gordian III
    Trajan Decius
    Antoninus Pius
    Marcus Aurelius
    Lucius Verus
    Gallienus
