Which of these two lovely half cents achieved the better grade? Half Cent #1, 1835 Half Cent #2, 1828
You wily son of gun ya! Trick question! They both graded the same! I'm not going to guess, because i stink at it, but those are both GORGEOUS. Careful, @Santinidollar may be watching, and want to add those to his already impressive collection... (They are THAT good, lol)
From the pictures, #1 looks to be a far higher a grade. Then again, pictures of #2 are far inferior, so it could be the opposite. Since I can only grade pictures, I will go with #1.
Yes, I should offer apologies for my photographic abilities. I was gifted with a lot of skills. Taking a decent photo was not one of them!
Me too. I have taken award-winning wildlife and nature photographs. I cannot take a decent picture of a coin, for all the money in the world.
I would think the second coin was graded higher but I prefer the looks of number one. Bug Randy, I think I’m getting too old to play these games. Hehehe
I like coin #1 better, looks more lustrous and has a little more red. I see more luster breaks on coin #2 than on #1. Since OP's theme feels subversive, so I'll go with #2.
You are completely on the mark. Yes, it was a bit subversive. I find half cent #1 to be just short of visually spectacular. However it is the lesser grade of the two. Since you hit the nail dead on the head I will offer the reveal now.
I was going to say I like #1 more but was also going to guess it was the higher grade. This is another of those examples where an AU 58 has better eye appeal than a low MS.
#1 is a much better looking coin, even if #2 grades higher. Typical AU superb eye appeal, vs less attractive MS. Or, should they both be the same grade, as either one could have gotten the opposite grade on any given day.
