Two questions please, George IV Crowns were made in 1821 and 22. But I see them with the year 1830, is that correct? Also a good site for purchasing the Monarchs on the Crowns. thanks, Rich
I am going to keep away from making any recommendations in terms of buying - I can say that I do offer Crowns on my site. I can also say that other than some patterns, there are no Crowns (ie, none for circulation) minted in 1830. What you are seeing are likely (if under the several thousand £ mark), are the 'retro proofs' which are modern fabrications.
I don't think I'm allowed to post directly here (rules about self-promotion), but in my profile, it is under 'homepage' there is a link. Lemme know if you find it!
I found it and would like to order a few representative pieces of Monarchs, particularly Victoria pieces. Rich
1821 & 1822 are the only Crown years I know of for George IV. Though, there is an ultra rare 1826, if memory serves me. (Seaby catalog not easily accessible at the moment) Davissons, CoinCraft and Civitas are Reputable dealers who have memberships in their associated numismatic organizations. DM'd you more info
I can also vouch for Davisson's, and I have done business with Coincraft (albeit not from the customer perspective), and can say that they are top-notch in terms of honesty / reputation. The 1826 is a presentation piece / pattern, variously described (depending on source / author), but certainly not intended for circulation.
