What does everyone do with the junky steel pennies they get in bulk wheaties? I always seem to get way too many of them,I'm thinking about dumping the whole mess of them into my memorial cents sorted bag and taking them to the bank to thrown back into circulation, either that or dumping them into a bell ringer pot at the store entrance.
roll all your wheats and toss in the steels too, sell them on ebay, note in the description that there are x number of steel cents and that all coins are pulled from circulation.
elongating steel I don't know the pressure that is applied, but putting a steel penny in one of those elongation machines could damage it (the machine:hammer:, not the penny) or at the least get the penny stuck in the rollers. Has anybody actually tried this?
What do you do with the rest "bulk wheaties"? Whatever you do with them, do with the steels. The last I heard, my local dealer was buying them for 3¢ each, but that has been a while ago.
Walk thru a mall or store and place them in an obvious spot where someone will find it, that'll make their day...
Dealer around here will give 3x face on bulk commons, including steels... I just lump them in there once I am done searching... I did find one of those buried geocaching boxes that folks look for with a gps all over the world... I stuck an uncirculated '43 steelie in there for disturbing their operation... B
Dealers around here pay 15 cents and up epr steel wheatie. They are in high demand but very low supply around my area.
