A coin is considered counterfeit if it is a rip-off of a government minted coin. Since there were no quarters minted in 1933, the "1933" quarter is not a counterfeit. Nobody is upset about the "hobo" coins, and they are de-faced government minted coins. As a collector, I would not mind purchasing a "1933" quarter and adding it to my collection. Just my thoughts on this subject. Not to mention that I have a "hobo" coin, and love it.

If it's silver, it's not trash. But it isn't a quarter, either... or even a coin at all, technically. Since there never has been any such thing as a 1933-D quarter, anything that appears to be one is a token of some kind. A fantasy issue, in other words. It would be collectible, if someone wanted to collect it. It just would not legally be a coin, since it would be a privately produced fantasy piece of some kind rather than US Mint legal tender. That "legal tender" distinction is where you separate what is a coin and what is not. Anything else will be a token, medal, etc.
I'm new to collecting coins 6 months in but I research everything I've got notebooks filled with my research everything is right online google it I personally noticed the 33 wasn't showing up on few sites so google it an there's my answer never was one I also feel like it's counterfeit and I wouldn't feel right with it in my collection if I was going to do that I may as well just grab a 83 d and make a non silver one that's pretty funny any way I am 56 so I don't just jump in without little knowledge and it is hard to find Morgan's for $35 You know of any good places for them I'm getting ready to start back up on them got p done now o then s then we'll see about cc but I could use a few more places for them I know someone sells them at a reasonable price like someone else said there's places that want$17 a PC for Mercury dimes when you can get them for 3-4 alot of rip offs out there I will look for hours at coin shops everywhere in the country looking at prices quality all that takes me days to find something sometimes but I know in the end I have done the best I can do maybe new don't have anyone buying me gifts anymore one less worry I'll be a old pro one day like some of you and the Chinese will be counterfeiting everything they already do enough it's almost like your better off spending money in a established place to be sure of what your getting online
