https://www.ebay.com/itm/184862737597 obvious fake, terrible details and wrong rev. to boot. I messaged the seller and included the link to the fake trade dollar thread I started. He said he would read it and take down the listing if he agreed. That was about 24 hours ago. no action and bidding over $400. Time to take action with 3 days left.
$400. and climbing, crooked sellers are selling many fakes on Ebay . Don't hesitate to call eBay directly if the seller refuses to take the auction down. I wouldn't want to spend $400. plus on a fake Trade Dollar.
This seller has already sold 19 Trade Dollars this year. Maybe some of you experienced Trade Dollar experts can look at the ones he's sold and see if any of them were also fakes. Hopefully there's no pattern
Didn't think anyone could "call eBay" anymore...recording on their old CS number that was once valid says no more calls...have tried and no luck finding another. But am not tech-savvy so maybe somewhere, but not that I can find on website. Heck, can't even find a two-way e-mail address or a live human "chat" for them. Bad.
It's different now, I have spoken a few times with their people who are based in the Philippine's. They called me after I had an issue and they resolved it.
You'd think someone willing to spend this much money on a coin would want to gain experience by researching the series and looking at lots of genuine examples...
You can still call em, if you dont mind sitting on hold for 3 hours. At least it isnt Paypal, where I once spent the better part of 6 HOURS on hold for a fuck up they were being (a week+) slow to respond on email to.
Reading the desc just makes that little bell in your head ring to, doesnt it? I mean, English doesnt get much more broken than that :0.
The eagles breast feathers just look like globs of metal to me... I feel sorry to the probably novice collectors (Or idiots looking for a quick buck) scamming themselves.
But it’s “a very nice coin for collectors.” That’s almost as endearing as the line, “I got this coin from my grandpa.”
There were a couple of 1796 1$ fakes. One took it down and I reported the other. There is a report link at the bottom.
You don't call them... you request a call back. They will always call you, and surprisingly quickly too.... https://www.ebay.com/help/home Scroll down and choose "Contact Us" Pick a catagory and then on the left column you'll see "Have us Call You"
