Bought this olympic commemorative coin from an antique shop for $5.50. decent shape, 72% silver. Some toning. Thoughts, comments, general feedback welcome.

I love these big chunky Mexican coins.
For $5.50, you got it for about $8 under melt. I'd buy that all day long.

As soon as I saw it, I jumped on it. Cool coin and an even cooler price.

Looks like the Type I. Yes, a nice coin - and one of many of my favorite Mexicans. There is also a Type II (with a lower ring in the center top row) and a Type III (curved snake tongue on the obverse). IMHO - looks like you got a nice deal! Congrats! Enjoy it!

I've seen the other 2 types. Would have been great to have one, but I'm happy with this deal.

IMO, that is a real eagle and not the sorry heraldic eagle that had been on the Silver American Eagles, or some of the other atrocities we have seen executed on US coins.
I remember when these came out and I saved my USD 2.50 and bought one from the local bank in Southern California & still have it.
    Very Nice!!!!
