Found this old nickel in a roll of other bunch of dates. I was wondering about the 5 on the date does it is little different than the rest it seems a lot bigger to me. And on the reverse side the letters E Pluribus Unum just the letters E pl at the bottom of them they look doubled die plus a possible repunched mint mark. The D looks like it is going north and shoved to the rim of the coin a little bit. If you look really close you can see the metal pulling up some down at the bottom closer to the rim. Sorry but this was the best I can do to try to show you what I see so thanks guys if I could get some help here own this one.
I know the rim been hit with something god only knows but it ant hurting the spot I'm talking about. I just figured I would throw that in right quick. Thanks
Good questions, it's how you learn. Word of advice from me (I dove in head first in the begining), it does pay off to gather up some sites to check out how coins are made, what errors to look for and also how exactly those are made. It helps you learn and it will actually speed up your hunt.
Thanks collection nut I've done so much research and I keep doing more I do a lot of reading most time you won't see me own here to evening time. Most time I'm reading or looking at other people sites I learn a lot off that there so much to take in people don't even know. I love this hobby but it can get to you if you let it when I get that way I just walk away from it.
