I just found this in a roll a few minutes ago. The letters d looks like it has been repunched. Plus all the letters on the front look like these a doubled die obverse. All the letters are big and fat ever single letter on it is like that. Plus the coin itself is not a bad looking coin for real for it's age what does your guys think about this coin.
Nice find! The obverse lettering distortion appears to be from a worn die. I can’t tell if you have a RPM.
The only D to be repunched would be the mint mark. I’m not seeing that. The rest of what you see was caused by a worn die and circulation. Nice looking for its age.
The D shows the same deterioration as the rest of the coin. Not a RPM. This really is no different than MD in this instance.
The D appears to have a slight fill to it but nothing to show doubling. MD in my opinion, nice coin, it's a keeper. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks guys always nice to get some feedback on a coin that I was not for sure about. I thought it was a nice coin to caught my eye when it feel out of the roll. But yeah I am for sure going to keep it I know there are alot better but this coin come out of cirlation out of a roll so not to bad.
Lincolns from this time period seem to make the current version look like crap. This is a nice example. The obverse during this time stood out much better than the obverse on a newer Lincoln cent. The ones from the 1960's carried over the obverse used on the wheat cents. Put a current Lincoln cent next to one dated from the 1960's and you can easily see what I'm talking about.
Sorry to jump in on this post with these but have been having a difficult time starting my own post so you all can see it. Could I get some expert opinions on the grading on this coin, XF or AU? I have my camera scope set on the highest resolution and wonder if it is satisfactory to even make a grading judgment. Thanks In advance. As far as the nice coin above it seems to me that any doubling gets worn away quite quickly and becomes less definable on lower grade coins. I found one today on a 1962 but the 6 was the only one showing anything, nothing on the bowtie or nose or TRUST, can put it up if anyone is interested.
