    Hi,

If you buy a high grad silver numismatic coin directly from mint and when you compare with the original picture, you saw a difference like that... It is suppose to be round... It look like an outgrowth. Do you think it is better to return the coin or keep it.

    Thanks.

It depends on whether it's a recognizable die variety or error. I can't make out what it is in your picture.

Yeah you need to give a few more details here... What coin, type, denomination etc. As well as a few more larger pictures so we have some idea of what area on the coin you are referring to.

    Hi,

I add pictures with more details...

I will not post the entire picture because i'm not sure it is an error. Maybe all coins are all like mine but i will be very surprise.

There are picture of mine and the original picture.

It's like something want to be the first on the Starting Line :smile

It's a numismatic collectable silver coin, low mintage.

    Thanks for your comments.

See, a lot more information is needed to make even an educated guess. There's a few million different coins in the world and it's kind of difficult to determine if something is a flaw if you don't even know what country the coin is from.

Yep, kind of difficult to 'guess' what you have without knowing what coin it is.

    Hi,

I do not want to post the entire coin because i cannot confirm if it is a error. I never saw another coin like that as I said before. If I can see another one... not a picture, maybe I will post it but there are not a lot of coins like this. It may take couple of months to see another one.

    Sorry.

CdNum, you don't understand. Regardless how many forums you go to, you will get the same reply at all of them. You NEED to post a picture of the entire coin. PERIOD. We can't tell you anything without better pictures.
If you are worried about safety, that makes sense, but assuming you bought it from the mint, it isn't going to be worth thousands upon thousands of dollars. Just show us.

    Hi,

Yes, maybe i will post it but i will confirm the error before. I understand you cannot just say it is or not an error and i respect it. Maybe in couple of months... when i will have a confirmation, i will post it, but not before.

    Sorry and thank you.

    Hey Cd,

Just curious, but how do you intend to confirm it is an error without anyone actually seeing it?

I understand that you think you may look silly by posting a pic of a coin that has no error, but that's a part of the learning process.

But anyway, I'm not in the same league as the others here, and I by far do not have the patience to play this game, especially when most replies are copy and pastes from another site.

    All the best.

    Chas.

I recall a friend who received five $20 bills at his local ATM and the reverse of all were blank. He marched over to a teller and demanded "real" money, which he got. Each of those $20 bills were crisp UNC and easily worth $100+ each.

    Hi,

I will keep it. It's a very beautiful coin. I bought this coin couples of months ago and just saw the maybe difference last week. This, just add a cute touche and unicity to the coin. It don't disturb the design. This is not an eclaboussure or something like that. It just look like a begining root on the base of a tree. If it is an error, i think it is a beautiful error... and that's probably why it get out the mint without stop signal. It look like a ready foot on the starting line... i like it.

    Thanks.

In your opening statement you didn't seem pleased with what you had and you did ask what we thought.

    Hello,

I don't post the entire coin... Yes, it's because i am a newbie in this very complexe world of numismatic coin and i found some errors on my coins. I'm not sure to understand all what you said. I'm french canadian and as you can read... i am at 3 on the scale of 10. I'm sure the essentiel is understand by all and i will be better in couple of years.

At this time... i'm please with what i have.

    Many thanks again.
