British Linen kind of bucked the trend with colours on their notes - whereas the other banks tried to coordinate colours by denomination the BLB stuck with blue for all their notes from £1-£100. It really is an attractive blue, and they look cool when you have whole piles of them like I do of 1950's era hoards of £1 notes. The last date of British Linen quids was 20 July 1970, which was actually a bit aft of when they were being merged with Bank of Scotland.
Here's a recent purchase of mine that was a long time in the making that my wallet wasn't too fond of.
Hello everybody I have a few small bills that came with assorted coin collection buys etc. I know absolutely nothing about paper currency. Are any of these worth more than a couple of bucks? I plan on keeping them and maybe down the road learning more about paper notes and start collecting. Thanks for any help
Those are some nice notes @Eric the Red. These notes are relatively common, but the 57-A star note and the 28-B $1 silver certificate are both high-grade examples that stand apart from the other notes. For starters, based solely on your photo quality, I'd estimate the 28-B $1 silver certificate to grade somewhere in the range of XF-40. The 57-A star note, on the other hand, would likely merit at least an AU designation. https://www.pmgnotes.com/paper-money-grading/grading-scale/
I found a few more notes stuffed away both foreign and domestic. Thought i would post them. If anyone could shed some light on any of them it would be appreciated.
All common notes, unfortunately, but they are still great pieces for a burgeoning collection. From top to bottom: Weimar Germany 1,000,000 Papiermark Second issue Weimar Germany 10,000,000 Papiermark Fifth Issue 1957-B $1 Silver Certificate: very common worth roughly $1.25. 1953 $2 Legal Tender Note: very common Japanese Occupied Philippines 1 Peso: very common Weimar Germany 2,000,000 Papiermarks fifth issue
With this addition, I’m only lacking the Richmond star to complete the series. I nicely centered 2017A $1 Chicago replacement note.
I know it's only FV, but I got this small head at my CU, I don't see too many in circulation anymore.
