Who is an expert on Civil War tokens?

Asking for myself. I have some real cool overstrikes and would like to talk to an expert.

My main concern is that they are real. The Chinese will make anything these days, even made to order. A guy showed up at an Early American Copper convention years ago with a “1796 half cent that was struck on a cut down 1796 Cent planchet.” It was brand new and straight from China.

 

Counterfeit CWT’s have been an issue for many years. This link to a page on the Civil War Token Society website lists those to watch out for.

Seek a Ph.D. Numismatist in your area. There you will find an expert. Good luck

 

Pictures would be nice even for our curiosity and education when you find out what you want to know. These good ole' boys might growl and snarl but they'll tell the truth as they know it and pretty smart.
