I've never had any of my Morgan or Peace dollars graded, and I have many real nice examples of these coins similar to the coins shown. I don't know if it's worth the expense to send them to a TPG. I have no graded dollars to use as a reference to compare to all of my other ones. Do they appear to be MS or better?? The Morgans look harshly cleaned to me. So no, not MS.

Agreed they won't straight grade with all those scratches and washed out appearance's.

They appear to be whizzed. Do not send. They will not be given a straight grade. You need to go to a coin show and look at what mint state morgans look like. Even ones in incredible mint state condition usually aren't worth the costs of grading these days. Takes MS65 quality or higher for most for it to be close to worth it. These would get a details grade for harsh cleaning.

No. They are all common dates. All have been harshly cleaned and won't grade anyway.

Yeah, certainly something has rubbed those Morgan’s to a point that they have very clear scratch marks. You would not be pleased sending these in. Save your money for a better specimen. Something that will straight grade that you can be proud of when you look at it.

All cleaned harshly, using some sort of abrasive. They won’t grade, so enjoy them as they are. Common dates, so no high value.

Harshly cleaned due to the abrasion I’m seeing. Not worth the cost to spend on grading them.

Gotta agree, don't send them, waste of money. Keep them and enjoy them, they're 90% Silver so they're worth some dollars! Keep them, I would! ;)

Not to mention there is NOTHING like holding an old silver dollar. I have a pile of junk silver and we play card games using them instead of chips. It just feels more fun.

Hey Randy, thanks for the reply. Seems these coins were all pocket change at one time. I got these coins from my father who luckily saved them. They're from my parents 25th anniversary, where one of their gifts was an anniversary tree of 25 silver dollars. Pretty cool, huh? That was back in the 60's.

Yea, I have many that are worn smooth. Wonder how many were tossed on a bar for a glass or two of whiskey back in the day, after a couple of days on a horse.

I see what you mean, all those scratches. I'll take good care of them in a coin album.

Yes.... That is very, very cool. And I will retract what I said earlier. I am a big believer in having family heirlooms encapsulated.

Why spend the money on sending them to a TPG. Put them in a nice safe airtite and enjoy them as is.

Morgan Dollars need to be better dates and in the higher grades to be worth the grading fees. This is an 1885-CC dollar. It grades MS-63 and would be worthwhile if I were so included.

But it's part of this set, so I wouldn't be getting it graded.
