I don't see anything amiss. It does seem surprising there are no bids yet. I remember this persons auctions ("if I say it's white, it's white") and have never bid on their stuff. But you have made me curious.... It sure does seem like I'd be happy to bid $10 (or even $100) for that baby...
$12 shipping is amiss enough for me. That's downright disreputable in itself! A sure sign to keep your eyes open on this seller.
Looks nice to me, but I hate those reserve auctions and usually do not pay any more attention to them unless it is a must have. I am not into guessing games. Put a minimum starting price and then I will decide if it is worth my time. Hey it's Monday morning, what did you expect?
Isn't this contradictory in itself. I thought members of certain organizations weren't supposed to do anything unscrupulous. His shipping charges are a total ripoff. Without researching, that's all I can find. edited: It's those typos again :roll:
, Congratulations to tbirde, neptune and mbbiker, what was amiss with me was the $12.00 shipping and $5.00 for insurance. Thats $17.00 bucks for something that would cost $2.00 to ship and insure, unless of course, he is wrapping in a gold case. I agree it is a beautiful coin.
Well I just bid $25 on it When I ship coins valued over $600 I use Registered Mail. That costs me near $15. If they think this coin will bring near a grand the shipping is not that totally outragous. Of course it would be totally outragous for a $50 coin. One needs to add in all costs when bidding. I remember the first time I had to pay a buyers fee at auction. I knew about it, but seeing it added to the bill made it real.
Carl - good luck with the auction. I hope you confirmed that the Seller will be sending the coin 'first rate delivery route" such as Registered Mail. They may add on another $15 for that?
While there are a few issues with the coin for a 65 RD (looks like a few spots and it might be turning a little brown) it would be hard to go wrong with a $25 bid. Even if shipping were $100. But this auction does seem funny. Why is nobody bidding? I mean these go for well over $100 in 64 Brown..
Not sure - they do seem to be bidding on his author auctions, and he does not have any neg feedback - so seller appears to be AOK. There are still 4 days left, so maybe they are going to wait to snipe - or maybe nobody wants it but you --- maybe you will get it cheap . . . . it's a reserve anyway, so no telling. I don't know that much about this type coin.
Registered mail which includes insurance by the way for less than 2 ounces is under $7.00 for shipping within the United States. Shipping priority mail with insurance for $200.00 and signature confirmation is still under $6.00. However, if the reserve is not to high I think the coin will be sniped at the last moment, shipping charges or not. It is stil a beautiful coin. Outstanding for a high grade type set.
