OK, So I opened my OBW roll of 1968S Jefferson's... Can someone take a look and tell me if this is the S/S MM They All are like this or have some kind of fill.. ALL OF THEM.. Also.. Dig This.. Been wanting a USB microscope Sooo Bad.. No Extra $$ with Xmas.. BUT.. I had a Broken video camer from the 90's.. Trash.. not sure why it is in the house at all.. So I smashed it!! Rigged it to my little Kodak Digital camera.. And .. voila! Pictures are rough.. needs some adjustment.. Focal length is about 3mm... LOL.. I will try to get a picture of the rig.. its funny!! The First Pic on top is the S/S
I see a little something there I guess... although I didn't even know there was a s/s error in 68... cool find!
Not sure.. I know there was a RPM S on the Proof for 1968 This was a roll with the S mint Mark.. Did they also produce business strikes in San Francisco in '68?????
Do you have "The Cherrypickers' Guide to Rare Die Varieties" by Bill Fivaz and J. T. Stanton on page, 321 has a picture of the Proof one. URS-6 has a price on a PF63 of $95.00 in 2000. Have nothing on reg issues that I can come up with. -O)
This is a normal S done with a normally bad mint mark punch. There is no evidence of an RPM. Further to support this, coins as they were minted were mixed pieces from several coinage presses as (during that time), the coins would have been transported from place to place. To find a complete roll of a particular RPM by pure chance would be like winning the lottery twice in the same week since coins from different presses, struck by different dies would be randomly mixed. Thanks, Bill
Could be a little mechanical doubling. I have some from, I believe, 1954 that appear to be anywhere from S/S to S/S/S/S. They're really wild, but not RPMs.
Yes as I look at the roll more.. Its a mix.. but all/most of the MM look rough.. I will try to get some other examples.. My eyes are bad but the RPM from the CherryPickers Looks like the top picture/right to me.. I think I need a better loop... And A Macro Camera... See today's experiment..
There is a small amount of machine doubling on at least one of the Ss shown above. Still no RPM. Thanks, Bill
That is one heck of a picture rig you have there! I concur with Bill, some slight machine doubling. Possibly a small die chip causing the raised area in the lower half of the S? Either way I don't think they will carry much of a premium...
