A good dilemma, and your thoughts

In my recent Walker find, I have obtained 5 1943 walkers, all in VG-F.

I am considering selling 4 of them (for melt, as they are not in great condition) and using the proceeds to fund my Modern Comm. collection, or to start on Frankies (I have 10 individual years/mintmarks, and I have a better chance at completing the set than the Walkers).

So do I sell them for melt, or hold onto them because "how can I sell a Walker for melt"?

This is not only for '43 but also for some other years of which I have duplicates.

I look forward to your suggestions.

    You said it yourself

As you stated, your chances of completing the Walker collection is slim. There are only so many of them.:secret:

And I am biased because the Walker is a Premo design, only to be repeated as ASE's and such.

So having originals, no matter how funky, may be desirable in the long run (walk?).

I too have a bunch as you described and am waiting for the next coin show to come around so I can sell them for melt.

Why not just arc weld them into a bulk pile of metal and take to a jewler?
Great too for target practice with a .22
Some guy one time tried to throw a Silver Dollar accross a river. Why not make history and do it with those? Of course yours are only half dollars so you would attain only half popularity, maybe.
You could put them on ebay with really poor pictures and claim they are all double dies and you were left with them from an aunt that died.

    Thaler?

Are you referring to the #1 Pres that chucked a "dollar" across the river....before we had dollars? Would that have to have been a Thaler when we learned to, by Exec intention, drop it in the drink?

I say keep the Lady Liberty Truckin before she gets a Dunkin'.
I do like the jewelry possibility

I would say go with your favorite. Walkers are not impossible to do; it just takes a lot of patience. I had a blast completing the series. You get to hunt for a couple of key dates (not too crazy in prices) while also grabbing up a lot of commons. It was the first and only series I have completed so far.

Thank you all for your advice. I don't plan on selling all of them, just the duplicates (in case I do start on the set).
