First, I want to be clear that I have no idea what I'm talking about. I've never given any amount of thought to coins in general. I have a sweet looking coin and I have no idea where I got it. I'm interested in where it might have come from and what its worth. Would anybody be kind enough to help a nub?
While I don't know what it's worth, the piastre is a sub-unit of currency in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Lybia, and Sudan, though I am not entirely sure which one this coin comes from. Edit: A quick look through the forums indicates that you have the Egyptian version. (see here: http://www.cointalk.com/t56186/#post611440 )
It is Egyptian. Total Weight 28 grams, 0.8330 Silver As for the value with the rim damage I would say close to silver spot.
Sorry about that. Silver spot refers to the current market price for silver http://www.kitco.com/market/
