Wow - I just went through the last few pages of this thread of some great coins and saw this. Incredibly interesting and compelling piece. Very impressive!
Probably the nicest 1909S IHC I've ever seen illini240, a real gem. Finally took some pics of my newest 2 center. Only 5 to go.....
Some pretty impressive coins here. I'm almost embarrassed to be pleased with this one.... While not particularly high grade, and not the "with motto" type I need for my US type set, I was happy to buy this one for 170.00 ppd. I especially like the fact that the rims are not all beat up, which seems to be a common problem with Seated Liberty dollars. This came out of an old Pittsburgh collection. Like 95 percent of these, it's been cleaned in the distant past, but it comes with the territory. I'd rather have one with an old cleaning than one with bruised rims. Nightowl
I finally decided to pull the trigger on a 1909-S VDB. Sure it isn't a shiny super red mint state deluxe plus 1909-S VDB, but it does the job. I overpaid somewhat, however, I used a combination of cashbacks which gave me around $100 back. So in the end, the price wasn't all too bad! It sorta feels good to get this biggie off the list (I know there's some other biggies remaining). :hail:
Absolutely, I agree Catbert. This one caught your eye like it caught mine. A flipover double strike of S-82, a rare variety on its own right. Very nice!
Those are misleading. I looked at the supposed MS 1854-C group and found that out of 21, I could only find 7 different coins with 2 insufficient to identify. It could be a quirk, but it shows that there are lots of slabbed coins being cracked out and resubmitted by SOMEBODY.
Incredible coins Penny Lady. I just checked Numismedia for the value of those coins and their table doesn't even go anywhere close to that high. Those coins are literally off the chart!
