Most of the obverse looks completely worn away but there is a strange wrinkled look to what should be a flat smooth field behind Lincoln's neck and coat. My brain isn't processing this or pretty much anything else correctly after 20+ hours awake. Has anyone seen something like this or is it just to far gone to really matter what it is? It appears the wrong handyman got in touch AKA damage it was ground down e.t.c.

Yeah it's pretty worn. It's just weird that the area behind Lincoln's back is higher than it should be and slopes down to the wrinkled looking area behind the back of his profile.

Also thinking damage, wha does the reverse look like?

The first pic is the reverse. It just looks like any 60yo circulated coin. Maybe even a tad better.

Your right, whatever damage has toned over well. Where did you find it?

It was mixed in with other unlabeled coins my dad had collected over the years.

Can you post one photo that shows the entire obverse?

No problem. That second pic is blurry but it shows the raised lip around the edge of the coin is still there.

It's missing part of the rim from about 8:30 to 12:30.

Yeah it's definitely diminished in that area to the point it's barely noticable. Lit from the side with a light is pretty much the only way you can see what remains. The fact that anything is still there seems odd to me as badly worn as it is. Maybe I'm just over thinking it and need sleep, lol.

Looks like a flapper wheel Lg. cent?

Don't think that you're the only one who does it. A lot of people overthink PMD.

I'm seeing file marks, some sanding and probably buffing. All is just damage.

Yeah there's no doubt this coin was worked over. It's possible metal was displaced from some type of rotary polishing and created the raised field and wrinkled area. Looking at it after getting some sleep it doesn't seem as fascinating as it did last night, lol.

Do you think that an extreme clogged die could do this?
With Lincolns isn't the obverse the hammer die?
