I have a couple of coins that I would like to remove the paint from. These are the standard painted coins that I purchased but now would like to remove the paint without damaging the coin. Any suggestions on what to use ?

I have had success soaking them in acetone. Many of the colorized silver eagles, and probably others have nothing more than a thin decal on them. They will wash away with acetone in pretty short order.

I don't know if it's worth the effort. If the coin is painted, the only value it has to a coin collector is bullion...so removing the paint won't make any difference. Plus, if it is paint you probably won't get every last bit so you will be left with a spotty and obviously altered coin anyway.
