His pictures just are not good enough for me to tell for sure. Yes, the N looks good, but that VDB picture is just not very good. The second 9 in the date does not look right. My guess is that it is a fake, but I cannot say for sure from those pictures.

I'm not sure whether or not it is fake but I can tell you they are bidding real money on it. Brave souls...

I've sent a note to the seller telling him that it might be a fake and advising him to check on the telltale signs on the internet. The thin N is really what got my attention followed by the closeness of the dot to the D. The S just doesn't look right to me. I can't believe the suspicous nature of these coins on ebay. It almost seems that 75% of them aren't real. Even the ones with a certification (questionable as the certified authority may be) look fake. It is unreal.

Here's an image showing the 4 mintmark locations and orientations for the S-VDB.

Looks like a fake to me, but it is hard to tell from the pic.

Hard to tell for sure from the photo, but looks like the deep cut version to me.

Of course keep in mind I still have a CRT monitor.

    That it is not.

Been there and done that, in fact, I said so often that I could not see that Doug was about ready to send me a monitor, but when I could not see it well, I said nothing or merely that I could not see blankity blank.

I thought it looked genuine until I saw the up close shots of the mintmark. The S looks big and mushy to me, and the seriffs look curved instead of vertical. I would be very wary.
