what about this 72 people, it just looks like a proof coin but i need some help please. what do you'll think thanks
You need a massive amount of help if you think this looks like a proof coin. Please explain, what characteristics make you think this could be a proof striking?
I have to guess that the OP is using only the rim as a point of reference. That is a fairly severe circulated coin and the edge could be because of that and not indicative of a proof, but I'm no expert, so will see what others have to say. If it is a proof, it is super impaired. LOL
The rims on this 1972 coin aren’t knife sharp and squared off inside and out like proof strikes. This is is what a proof rim from 1972 should look like.
Cannot tell from your photo. Op's coin has wear from circulation which would explain the eased edges.
My photo is one from CoinFacts. Even a proof having been in circulation since 1972 would still show signs of sharp interior edges. Not to mention that there have never been any reports of 1972 No S Lincoln proofs to exist. The OP’s coin is in good enough condition to exhibit al least some mirror proof signs in the fields if it were proof.
hi and thank you all for the input, i no there has not been any listing of any 1972 no mint mark, firstly i want you'll to no that I'm not that learned in coins I'm trying, and comparing that 72 to my proof 72 and the business strike 72s, it looks totally diff , its much thicker and flat on the rim like a proof coin i Respect all you'll opinion. it could be that maybe its a Denver minted coin
i have taken more photos of the Rim, towards the side of 72 the inner rim is rounded but all along the rest of the rim its kinda square. but have another look. thank you again
Your coin shows no signs of being a Proof. Some business strike Lincolns were well struck and had more square rims than others. 1972 was a mirror Proof year and this coin shows no signs of a Proof finish, I’m afraid. It’s a typical circulated 1972.
Yes proofs have squared edges, but just because a coin has squared edges doesn't mean it is a proof. Well struck business strikes can have squared edges as well. It is a little unusual but it does happen.
What kind of newbie knows that there is a Denver mint, but doesn't know that they have "D" mint marks on the coin? I'm now convinced that you're 100% troll.
Not a proof. It is a beat up circulated cent. Why do we have all of these dysfunctional newbie troll threads???
It's not a proof. First, it's not a S mint coin and there are no known proofs without the S mint mark from 1972. Every proof die had the S on it. Secondly, the features of the coin don't match. While it's a well struck business strike, it's not proof quality.
