I just had a few bad experiences there myself. I always felt like they were not very personable. I am mainly complaining on the service I got. I also didn't want to lump all my coins together and sell in bulk so they would get a better deal. The coins they sell though are quite nice.

Well if you brought them into the store in a bulk bag my dealer would do the same, but if you brought the semi-keys separately then you would get more on those. So as recommended in another thread I would sort them out, but sounds like this dealer would still only pay bulk prices - period.

I do not know about others, but just because someone reports a bad experience would not prevent me from visiting a store - I have to form my own opinion. One of the reasons I do not like threads about bad or good sellers on ebay - your experience and my experience might not be the same.

I asked him if it mattered if they were separate

I wonder if Allen's death has brought a shift in focus away from buying? The economy could also have a hand in it too. I'd think stores would much rather sell right now. Anyway, I am heading up there next week for supplies and maybe a few things Canadian. I will have to see if I notice a change.

Yep - as I mentioned sounds like this guy would only pay bulk prices period. Not very customer friendly. I have to admit I have two stores locally and 1 I really like. The other I just do not like how they operate and I do not feel comfortable in there. The one I like I get to shop, ask questions - actually look at 50k coins sometimes. I also think the key to the using them is knowing your coins and prices. Then you can identify the best deals. I enjoy chatting with them more than anything.

Thanks LostDutchman. I'll pass Belmont on to my son. Always nice to find a place that someone has referenced.

    Welcome to the coin game.

Situations like this help to explain at least in part why TPGs have become popular.
