Maybe it's just my eyes... but I really do not see what you are looking at. Can you post better scans/photos?

Looks like a large date with either MDD or DDD, can't see the damage clear enough.

I see no evidence of the coin being a doubled die, if that is what you want to find out.

    Thanks,

If I remember correctly.. and I apologize if I am wrong on this, but I think that on all "small dates" the "RTY" of LIBERTY is weak. This does look to be an LD and not a DDO.

I think it's strike doubling, because if it was a regular DD, the white metal would not show, if it's shape in this area is like a shelf and doesn't have a rounded look, it's strike doubling. :)-O)

I really don't see what you see.

From the picture/scan, look at the lower right loop of the "0", do you see, from the image, the white looking area on the "0". The scan doesn't show much, so I'm not seeing true image much.:)-O)

There wouldn't be any "white metal" showing on anything older than 1982 regardless of what the cause is. I agree we need better photos.

True. Still thinking of the newer ones. Thanks

I know. I see that all the time with those newer ones: especially around the mint marks. I think the white areas on this one are just blown out hightlights.
