A 90% silver Bicentennial Half Dollar from Dan Francisco Mint. It now resides in my Dansco 7070.

I wonder why the mint came up with such a strange composition?

My mistake. Just in a rush as I was thinking about another coin.

This is a 40% silver clad San Francisco Half Dollar.

It was so 'dumb' back in the day..........why not make them 'coin silver'? Everyone was so hung up on silver after taking it all out of circulation. The evil coin collectors created a coin shortage.

Now (today) we deal with 99.9% silver when we buy sets of that nature. 'Coin silver' has gone the way of the dinosaur.
