I am getting some weird looks these days. :rolling: Do you find your self when at a store and getting change, immediately looking at the coins to see if there is any thing good in there? Or when I am at the counter and there is a tip jar I ask to look through the coins or I just stare and see if there are any keepers. It seesm like when I walk up to the front door, the "open" sign is turned over to say, "closed". :secret: Now, what's up with that? Do any of you have similair stories?
yes, I am the only 15 year old in town who goes to the bank and asks for rolls to search. I feel like they close the door in my face but I enjoy the fun and finds
Yep...after receiving my change back from store clerks, I have had hundreds of them gawk at me as I root through the change I received back. I can tell they are all concerned that they may have short changed me, mean while all Im looking for is that special coin.. Help me...I can't stop looking at the change jars, and the fountains in the malls looking for that same special coin. (Never actually scooped one up mind you..YET)
I think sometimes it can appear frightening to the clerks to examine your change right after they give it to you. I often get the feeling they think I am checking to make sure they can make change, even when I make it obvious I am looking at the coin somewhat closely. On a tangential thought: I guess most change we receive is so terrible looking after a little circulation, (i.e. how poorly the penny, quarter, and dollar coins wear...) they must figure who would bother to collect it from change. Still I like the dime and nickel they seem to hold up better.
Yes and yes, big time!! I was looking at a money jar just the other day! I can barely wait to get out of the store to look at my change. I'll tell ya I gotta tone it down a bit!! You're not the only coin nerd, that's for certain!
i wait until i get out of the store before i check my coins. i try my best to avoid those "looks"... now if only the bank teller would stop looking at me funny when i get $20 in nickels...
Gone over the edge Once I purchased a keeper from the tip jar in Hong Kong. I got some funny looks but I have the coin in my collection today.
If you frequent a deli, it's good to let the owner know you collect. One day the deli guy had 8 silver nickels for me! You never know when some kid gets the urge to raid dad's keeper jar!
Swish: One of the local female coin dealers had them specially produced. She told me about them ahead of time, so I had her order one for me. I have had mine for about a year and a half, I believe, but I have not seen them for sale since. If I do see them, or her, in the near future I'll ask if they still exist. Perhaps it's time for another production run.
I need that T-shirt!!! That would help reduce some of the stares, or at least turn the stares to the shirt or turn the stares into smiles!
