So I was going through more of my dad's collection today and came across some more unlabeled coins. This monstrosity caught my attention mostly because whatever was done it looks like they peeled poor Franks skin away down to his skull. IMG_20210521_172657282_HDR~2.jpg

Yeah it's definitely unique, lol. It kinda reminds me of the old hobo nickels.

It would be even cooler if you had the other piece of the cladding error.

    Yep, Franklin Roosevelt, lol.

Acid was my thought when posting too. Just thought it was bizarre looking. All that talk of errors got me excited for a minute there, lol.

Well my 13yo son really liked it so hopefully it's more than I thought since it's his now. I've been trying to get him interested in the hobby but this was the first coin he ever showed interest in. It would be great if he started out with something worth more than 10..err... 8¢.

Can you show both sides (full shots) and the area's edge (closeup)?

Umm not sure I have full reverse shots saved on my phone, only close-ups, but I'll post what I have. I can do more after I get home from work if needed.

That edge shot is what made me think acid even though the cladding looks broken away. I guess I should've posted these sooner but I was just thinking it was freaky PMD.

Wow, the back of that dime looks like someone spackled it with plaster and sprayed aluminum paint over it. Or that it melted... weird.

Almost reminds me of those chocolate coins that they wrap foil around at Easter time. :)

Was the die that messed up on both sides?
