I am the Prez. now of the local coin club and last night a guy brought in some fantastic looking notes from banks all over Michigan. I want to pick up a book on bank? notes so that I can learn something about them. Any books I should look at. Remember, I have been collecting coins for 45 or so years and never got into notes at all. I have a few that I have gotten or picked up over the years but hardly a collection I would say. I am interested in this Michigan bank note series though.

Again, just looking for the book.. BEFORE I get involved in the arena. Guide me oh masters of the paper money realm.

    Hi Jim

Speedy just picked up two books I believe on Michigan Nationals. You may want to check out his thread in this section. I believe he mentioned it is a recent publication.

Good Luck with the book and coin club!

Thank you everybody. I will take a look at both books and probably get both based on the recommendations here. NOT that I am going to jump into the other dark side, but I would like to have some information just in case.. : )

    Jim,
I hope you didn't pay the $93 for that one book - heck, I have two copies that I'm going to put up on a contest or something really soon. Not that you could bribe me, but you could try the contest! LOL

I picked them up at an auction for next to nothing -

No, I didnt speedy. Got the special dealer discount.

Anyway.. The first book is easy to follow and very helpful. The second book I am sure will be helpful once I figure out the scientific code they used to print it. I think its for the more advanced collector which I am not. but its in the ole JIM M library now.
