Original Bird

    This bronze coin weighs 8.1 g. It's worn but somewhat original as to the bird on reverse. The obverse also shows a helmeted Emperor whom I can't identify. I first suspected Arcadius but I'm not sure. Thanks for your comments.

    The Ostrogoths formed the Eastern division of the Goths. They invaded Italy in 488 AD under their king Theodoric. Then they founded their kingdom which was later destroyed by the Byzantine Emperor Justinian I circa 553 AD.

    I just found out surprisingly that the OP coin is being offered on eBay at 3500 dollars. Wow.. Is this possible? They list it as a municipal coin of Rome.
