While we are liking on the Kennedy half, how about some love for another of the engravers pieces?

Here is a beautiful Illinois sesquicentennial piece designed by Gilroy Roberts, the designer of record of the Kennedy half dollar obverse.

His initials ought to be quite recognizable beneath the oxen on the obverse .

Do a little research and you will find many other "striking" examples of his design work.

I broke down and ordered the p and d 2021 rolls and they were just delivered. Unfortunately the P roll ends were both reverses. 20210518_153226~2.jpg 20210518_153257~2.jpg 20210518_153330~2.jpg

I also got the silver proof set. The obverse is perfect (marks on the case) the reverse has a bit of frosting missing on the lower right of the shield. PR 69 DCAM I guess... DSCN2855~2.JPG DSCN2856~2.JPG
On further scrutiny, those marks in the field in front of Kennedy's mug ARE on the coin...

$105 plus shipping and the big coin is almost impaired...hits in the field under the chin and the rim under the I and to the left of the I. I have never sent anything back to the Mint but I think I have no choice...

Back in the box and off to the fulfillment center with the pre-printed label. $5.70 USPS.

Just received the replacement silver proof set today! Very happy with the new set; no obvious damage to any of the coins. Cost an extra $5.70 and 30 days or so, but the USPS delivered and the fulfillment center replaced the set as asked.
