I am not usually too interested in the modern coinage, but I do like to pick up my spending money in the new dollars and put them in circulation as much as possible.

I picked up $100 dollars worth a couple of weeks ago and have noticed that these (from Denver) have hideous surfaces on the rims. They look like they've been made by amatures with numerous gouges and pock marks on every coin. If this occurred on the surfaces, it would be like a return to early 19th century fractured dies. Bear in mind these are from new rolls I am breaking out for the first time.

Is this old news and is it as common as it seems to me?

I will give a description of 10 coins from the roll I've already broken. This is not a sample, but every coin left in this roll.

OK This is a sample and I don't feel like doing the other edges, but it's more of the same.
