Hi, the "9" on this 1913-D Wheat Cent has a separation on the very bottom of it. I would appreciate any help in letting me know if it is an error coin, or if the "9" was attacked by a human predator. If a mint error, how rare and valuable is it? Thanks so much! Buddy s-l1600.jpg

It took a hit. Circulation damage.

Suggestion.. There is a Error Coins forum here on CoinTalk. Ask your questions there. First identity what you may have. Most mint errors are minor and don't have huge premiums or none at all.

The "separation", as you put it, would have to have been made by a raised area, or "ridge", running through the leg of the "9" on the die. Please explain your theory of how this could have occurred.
