Meow has never found one of those. Wonder if its because the Philly mint makes those and Meow only gets Denver coins.

No. I found 2 Marsh Billings D partial collars.

Hmm, just not lucky it seems. Are those type of errors particularly valuable? Meow has found only one very circulated quarter that was not struck right.

Partial Collar strikes can occur at the Philadelphia and Denver Mints. They are a neat Mint Error but not a major one and really no big premium IMHO.

Well Meow says that because P mints have so many more issues than D mints.

It's a matter of Probabilities. One will have more than the other and probably never a exact equal amount. ;)

Well as a Cat that finds fun in finding minor varieties CRH, you will find that a P mint (at least a modern one) is much more likely to have a die chip or doubled die.
A look at recent findings a Wexler's will show a larger percentage of P mint coins.

Well there is your answer. The Probability shows that the Philadelphia Mint has produced more errors and varieties than the Denver Mint. I believe one has a higher amount of coins being struck per year than the other so they would have a greater chance of creating the issues. Simple.

Ok going out a limb here. Meow thinks on average it is the Denver that mint strikes more coins than Philly. But,.......what does a Cat know anyway?

Awesome find and a good spot considering the partial collar didn't present strongly on the alignment of the dies as often happens.

May not carry much value but it's a keeper in my opinion, I like it.
