That's what I thought but what's got me second guessing is that you would figure that if it was damaged that center would have some kind of damage on the outer edges of it but if you look close it's a smooth transition. Y'all think maybe some kind of press did this
You're trying too hard to "overthink" the damage. There aren't too many ways that errors can be created during the minting process, but there are thousands of ways that people who have nothing better to do can think of to alter coins. You might want to buy a book on Mint Errors if you plan on continuing in this part of the hobby.
