People were pretty accurate on this one. It was obviously cleaned many years ago, and retoned. The grade seems accurate to me. I do disagree on eye appeal comments, however. For a Seated 20 cent, it has a nice look to it for a type coin. Toning isn’t crusty—gradually retoning with a reddish brown tone.

I am pleased to be a genius goat. I am getting more of these GTGs correct or close than I was a year ago. Thanks for posting.

The coin looks better in the reveal photo - eye appeal is all in the eye of the beholder - probably the most subjective of the grading criteria. I've been collecting for three years now and when I look back at the first slabbed coins I bought it often induces a cringe. For example, this is one of my first slabbed coins. I would not buy it today for all the reasons that are readily apparent now but which I didn't know about then:

    - Graded MS-60 when it is really an AU-55 or 58.
    - Weak strike issues.
    - Hair-lined from an old cleaning and lucky to not be detailed.
    - Unnatural blast white from a cleaning. This is one of those eye appeal things. I preferred blast white then but now I prefer either light toning or even some crusty. Fortunately, this coin retains decent luster - it's only saving grace along with an R-4 die marriage - something else I knew nothing about back then.

That is a beautiful coin. I think it could certainly have graded higher. MS 62 or 62+ would have been my call on your coin.

I have to agree. Not your typical MS60.
