I believe the mintage of the 2004 silver quarter set was limited to 600,000. Will there be a limit on the mintage for the 2005 set?

Why are these sets being sold without sleeves and c.o.a. I guess they are still in the original case. What has happened to the sleeves and c.o.a.'s

People lose them or throw them away. Then later decide to sell the coins.

I'm not sure; but on reflection I believe I saw a recent ebay ad for boxes on sale. I will check.

I just checked. In the first 3 pages of 16 there were three ads for boxes only no coins.

I think selling only boxes is a kind of scam. People do it hoping that people will bid it up not realizing that it is only a box.

I see it happen alot with X-BOX and Play Station games also.

They usually make a VERY long ad with tons of mumbo-gumbo and you miss the part that say it is only the box. I never trust Ebay auctions where the ad is a mile long (1.6 KM for every one outside the US ;) ).

without sleeves or box and c.o.a.

they opened the silver proof 6 pc set and sell them individually. the other 5 pc quarter. the sell it a set without sleeves or box and c.o.a. in that case, they can earn more. and the 6 pc empty case, sleeves/box and c.o.a. can be sell for some money too at e-bay. total selling amounted to over $100.00. the 11-pc set sell for only $38.95 at best.

How do they open the proof sets. I understand they are just snapped together-there is no glue. But I don't know how they wedge them apart. Maybe with razor blade. There are a number of inserts available on ebay that are sold as reusable I believe.

Since 1999 the proof sets are just snap together and can be opened with your fingernails with no damage or evidence showing on the case.
