Not double d's, although I wish I could find some, I found what seems to be my very first doubled die.

it was with that change my grandfather gave me. 1972 DDO-003 (A best of!)
Let me know if I've missed the mark on this one. Even though it's a later die stage, I am happy. SLightly misaligned die as well.

You think? I took a look at the date but looks like I didn’t take a pic. Tomorrow I can.

mine has no separation on the date like -008 does. I’ll investigate tomorrow but thanks :)

    If this is a die gouge, it’s a -008.

I agree that it appears to be DDO-008, not 003, but the easiest way to tell is with a picture of the 2 on the date.

Nice photos, I usually defer to @furryfrog02 He has an eye for the 72's.

I'm thinking 003 stage A, for the moment.

Here are some photos of the date. Reverse has nothing special. I will figure out exactly which one I have here but not now. Golfing today :cigar:

Thank you for the compliment on my pictures. Heres another. I'll check back later. Tee time in half an hour. Much love to you all!

Looks more like a 003 to me.

Congrats, tail of the two confirms you've got a DDO-008! 008 is a stronger doubled die, so this is the better outcome imo. If you're interested how I know, it's all about the foot of the 2. The foot of the 003 is not as thick as the foot of the 008 and has a little lump at the base, while the 008 is thicker and of a uniform thickness across the foot.

Here is a great infographic on the difference made by Richard Cooper (AKA Coop). I take no credit for his images, just sharing them.

Evan's looks like the 003 bulge IMO. Could be the angle.

Too thick to be 003. Note that the 008 also has a "swoop" in that location, which is just part of the design of the 2, but the 003 is far thinner except for that one bulge. 003 also has no separation lines in the foot of the 2, which Evan's does have.

Good eye. On these 1972s, you'll often find the B in LIBERTY doubled upward, to one degree or other. Always look for that. Nice find.
