The bride of quietness 2 CT colleagues 1. I hope you didn’t mind my previous post ‘The bride of quietness.’ I wanted it and the excerpt from Keats’s Ode on a Grecian Urn to stand on their own. This note is a little explanation / excuse / apologia. 2. With many ancient coin prices soaring, I decided to take a break from purchasing and instead to have my collection photographed and do some detailed attribution. 3. I engaged @denisrichard of Hipshot Photography (no financial interest) to do the photography. The needs for my database were quite prosaic, but Denis pointed out how photogenic was the drachm of Larissa that I used in my previous post. 4. When I saw his photos, I thought of Keats’s Ode, and that the surface crystallization added both to the beauty and sense of age … so I couldn’t help but to share! 5. Oh, and here’s a bit about the coin as well as the photo that I used for my database THESSALY, Larissa. c 365-356 BC. AR drachm (19mm, 5.95 g, 11h). head of nymph Larissa facing slightly left, wearing ampyx, pendant earring and wire necklace ΛΑΡΙΣ above and AIΑΙΩΝ in exergue. Horse right, preparing to roll.
