Alright, here's a brief summary. My names Zach I'm 20 yrs old I started collecting coins maybe 4 months ago and originally was going after vf/xf morgan/peace dollars to fill my dansco albums *think i have 35+ dates*. I planned on saving money / buying silver dollars but it appears I've been spending more then saving. Over the past few months I've purchased other items that I shouldn't have  and I'm debating if I should hold them or just sell them all off. I have roughly 12-15 pf 69 state quarters. 1,000+ Wheat pennies. A few slabbed Morgans 62/63 grade. Pf 68 ike. ms 66rd formative. 3 slabbed dimes. slabbed 2007 s nickel. 1960 MS 65 silver quarter. 20-30 buffalo/liberty nickels. 90+ silver dimes + few other silver coins.

Sounds like you are going through what I am/was going through up until recently. I was so consumed by coin collecting that I couldn't decide what to focus on, so I got a little of everything. So recently, I decide that I would only collect BU lincoln pennies to fill my whitman albums and BU Peace Dollars to fill a Dansco album. Only when I am done those will I let myself move on to something else (which will be a while).

sell the small stuff, take the loss.

    Then BUY THE BOOK!

Hint: BUY a book and research what you want to collect!

Whitman has a nice Morgan $ book.

And to add to what Frank said - resist the urge to just buy. Learn first and carefully buy second. This should help you to make sure you get exactly what you want. Relax and enjoy - your young and coins will be around for a long time, no need to rush.

I say if you need the money for other things or if you need it to buy other coins for your collection do so. Remember you can always by the coins back again later in life, there will always be pf69 state quaters out there. I am 26 and I have the same problem which I am always buying coins for several collections I have, what I need to do is work on one collection then work on another. The problem with that is you never know when that one piece you have been looking for comes up for sale.

Thank you for all the suggestions thus far. I plan to sell off the coins that don't belong with my current/future goals. Any suggestions to how I should sell off the items, maybe all the state quarters together? I just realized i have 1 pf 70 presidential and 2 pf 70 state quarters.
